Minimum Wage Increases Come into Effect on October 1, 2011

As part of a scheduled increaseprocess, the minimum wage in Nova Scotia and PEI will increase on October 1, 2011.

The rate for "experienced" workers will increase to $10/hour.  The rate for "inexperienced" workers will increase to $9.50/hour.

An experienced worker is a worker with experience in a particular area of work and/orwho has been employed by the same employer for more than three calendar months.

PEI minimum wage increases also take effect on October 1, 2011 and increases to $9.60/hour.  The next scheduled increase in PEI is in April 2012 increasing the rate to $10/hour.
